Categories of CASS Rejected Addresses

Address formatting errors

• Many addresses cannot be coded by standard CASS software simply due to data entry errors, improper fomatting and/or incorrect data fields
• Max-DP includes intelligent pre-processing algorithms to overcome these formatting problems and convert address lists for optimum CASS performance

CASS software behavior

• Each CASS software engine has its own strengths and weaknesses
• Some CASS engines perform better with certain addressing styles (e.g., grid- addresses, multi-word street names, etc.), while others do a better job at correcting other types of addresses such as street pre or post-directionals
• Max-DP utilizes three different CASS engines in a waterfall model to take advantage of most available CASS strengths

Other incorrect and/or incomplete addresses

• Certain addresses simply have incorrect address elements (e.g., the house number) or are missing vital address information such as a street pre-directional required for delivery point validation
• No standard CASS engine can correct these types of addresses
• Max-DP, however, takes advantage of other non-address delimiters (e.g., the recipient's name) and by using a comprehensive national name-address database is able to correct many CASS rejected addresses
